A Superior frame of mind
True fiberglass front doors are comprised of a fiberglass slab and fiberglass frame. Many companies on the market will sell a front entry door that is sub- par simply to generate a minimal extra profit. This is done by making a composite frame which does not guarantee a stylistic or effective match. A fiberglass door-frame, even if smooth, multiplies the strength and the style of any door system.
Durability is stability
When comparing fiberglass entry doors to steel entry doors, durability is a huge factor. Fiberglass is not able to be damaged in the same way that steel is, and overall resists wear and tear much better then a steel door system because of its increased density, mass, and inability to be dented.
Looks
A fiberglass exterior door system also gives your home a different aesthetic look by taking paint differently then a steel door and having the capability of being stained, generating a much different door design and feel. Entrance doors are often one of the most unique and specific aspects of your home.
The design difference extends to panel designs as well, with both steel and fiberglass doors having a multitude of different types of panels available. However, a steel door will never give you a wood-grain look, nor will it give you the same type of engraved panel look.
Real World Examples
Here is a good comparison between our door systems, while both are fantastic, the fiberglass door gives you a significantly increased benefit with a minimal increase in price:
Fiberglass doors have an increased durability while still having the same capacity for entry door features such as intricate glass options, glass inserts, and multi point lock systems. This creates beautiful doors accentuated by the aesthetic of decorative glass and the safety of multi point lock options.
Steel doors come in a wide variety of designs but do not have the same aesthetic punch as fiberglass doors, even though they are a potent system in their own right.
